Ernst Gouws studied winemaking at the Weinsberg Wine School in Germany during the 1970's. During the early 1980's he worked in the Champagne and Bordeaux regions in France, there after he spent 15 years actively involved with the development of a number of private wine estates in the Cape Winelands including Saxenburg, Rhebokskloof and Hoopenburg and in 2004 fulfilled his lifelong dream by going solo and launching the family flagship label, Ernst & Co.

Fanus Bruwer on the left Fanus Bruwer is the winemaker at Quando and has learned his craft in Germany after studying at Stellenbosch. He started as n garagiste as there was no initial cellar on the farm. Since then the estate has grown significantly.
